NSW legislation recently announced a change to gift voucher
expiry dates for all vouchers purchased in that state. From 31st
March, 2018, all Gift Vouchers purchased in NSW must have at least
36 months before they expire.
There is a global flag that controls the expiration date of all
Gift Vouchers purchased in either Harmony or WinPos. There is also
a second flag that determines if the expiry date is to be
enforced.
Harmony does not currently possess the ability to make separate
Gift Voucher rules from state to state. NSW stores cannot be set to
issue a 3-year Gift Voucher while all other states remain at 1 or 2
years. Extra complexity arises when a NSW customer purchases a
voucher outside the state and redeems when in NSW.
Customers that have stores in NSW and have this global flag set
to less than 36 months will need to make a change before the
deadline.
The options are:
- Set the global flag to 36 months for all stores; or
- Keep the flag set to less than 36 months, but don't enforce the
expiry date.
