Harmony’s operating system and interface

The Harmony server operates on the UNIX platform, the industry standard for high end computing.

The Unix server supports many brands of hardware, and will fit into existing networks.

Users access the server on standard Windows XP or 2000 based PCs.

Harmony can support virtually any number of concurrent users in a Multi-user, Multi-tasking environment.

You can switch between modules, or interrupt a Harmony session to run an external program such as e-mail or Excel.

Menu structures are simple and intuitive, screens and keys can be customized, and full on-line html help is always available.

Because Harmony modules are integrated, any information keyed in is available in all modules.

Harmony Desktop

Harmony Desktop makes the software easy to access and use.

It gives users the benefits of Windows such as copy and paste and mouse support, and manages remote access via the Internet or dial up networking with full 128bit data encryption.

Because Harmony Desktop is OLE compliant, you can open common Windows applications from within Harmony.

This allows for the viewing of images referenced with the applications or direct links to websites related to stored data.

Harmony Document Viewer

Harmony Document Viewer gives the product a “wysiwyg” (What You See Is What You Get) interface for forms and reports.

All harmony output can be sent to the Document viewer or stored as a “hop” format for later viewing, printing, faxing or e-mailing.

Report Writer

Harmony has a suite of standard reports, but if you want to create your own, the report generator is flexible and easy to use.

Reports you plan to use regularly can be put into the relevant Harmony menu

Report Templates

Frequently used reports can have the selection values stored as a template for future retrieval.

This allows complex reports to be inserted into customised menu’s and be selected with a single key stroke.

Report Scheduling

By making use of the report scheduling, those reports which are continually required can be ready on your desktop or printed on arrival at work on pre-determined days.

Fax module and PDF Output

Harmony provides interfaces into both VSI Fax software and the Jet PDF engine.

You can fax Harmony reports and forms either individually or in batches.

VSI also allows for other desktop applications to make use of the fax gateway.

All reports and forms can alternately by created as PDF for saving or direct interfacing into Microsoft e-mail clients.

ODBC module

With the ODBC module, data can be shared between Harmony and other packages - for example, extracting data from Harmony and putting it into a spreadsheet, database, or even an active web page.

Online Help

Extensive on-line help is available for users.

The help files include comprehensive manuals for each Harmony module, overviews which explain how each module works, and a procedures menu for everyday tasks, such as end-of-day and back up.

Forms

Any document that is used regularly is a form: an invoice, price ticket, cut sheet, picking list etc.

Harmony comes with a wide selection of standard forms, and each one can be customized.

Forms can include your choice of fonts, pictures, colours and bar codes.

Pop up messages

You can program on-screen messages, which appear when needed to help the user.

Pop up messages can include user instructions, refund policies, product measurements or anything else you choose.

Security

Harmony keeps your data secure with a variety of features, including password protection to multiple levels.

Access can be controlled by module and down to individual fields on the screen.

Harmony Runtime

Harmony does not depend on an external database, because it has its own - Harmony Runtime.

This provides a more robust, reliable solution that’s more economical and faster to use.
